Georgia O'Keeffe

Georgia O'Keeffe
Black Door with Red,
1954
48 x 84 inches

Oil on Canvas
Georgia O'Keeffe is without a doubt America's foremost woman artist. Black Door with Red, 1954 is one of her most monumental paintings. It is a frontal and geometric presentation of the artist's Abiqui house. It consists of only five elements: a wall, door, stepping stones, ground, and sky. Infused with red-yellow color that O'Keeffe returned to many times, it is one of her most austere and abstract works.
Proof indeed that less can be more.
