Sandra Lerner, Burning Bush, 1995, 80 x 102 inches, Plaster, pigment on wire lath and wood

Sandra Lerner's paintings are investigations of the natural world through pattern, repetition, and interplay of opposites. The surfaces evolve from many applications and manipulations of paint and plaster. The resulting images are abstract in their use of space and color but have specific links to organic forms.

Sandra Lerner graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia College of Art and has been a professional artist for twenty years. In addition to producing her own works, she is involved in working with and for artists. She was a founding member and is presently a trustee of the Foundation for Today's Art which creates opportunities for artists to
show their work. Since moving to Taos in 1989 she has served on the advisory board and art committee of the Harwood Foundation Museum.
