6 x 9 inches
Mixed media on paper
Kathy Koller has been creating art for a number of years. After discovering the joy of creating art while earning humanities credits towards her bachelors degree in sociology, she went on to pursue her new found love (art) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and later to earn her MFA at the University of Illinois at Chicago. For a number of years, Koller's primary source of artistic creation was performance for which she earned a bit of local notoriety while living in Chicago and later in Albany. For the past few years, she had been creating mixed media works on paper. Her process is time intensive. The work is created in layers with each one requiring drying time. However, these layers are each made rapidly with a large variety of materials. This method of working has an interesting rhythm much like a thunderstorm with periods of silence in between the loud claps.

 Born 1965 in Wisconsin.
